We stopped.by here on a whim as we were strolling through Laguna on a beautiful sunny weekday. I was craving a margarita and this place looked super vibrant and cute. The first thing I noticed was all the colorful and beautiful seating areas, cozy couches and Loteria and Mexican decor. Since we had already had lunch we ordered some drinks and their taquitos and oysters. Both were tasty. service was great and we will definitely be coming back to try their food.

Came across this beautiful place and saw a sign that sold the abuelita hot chocolate and we came in and also had a dessert. The arroz con leche and the hot chocolate did taste just like how my grandmother made it . I absolutely loved it. The service was great! I will be making my way to this place to try their food.

First time visiting the Bodega. Lucky for us, our anniversary (#26) falls 5 days before Christmas so Laguna is not the usual bustling, busy town it usually is. So, we had the place pretty much to ourselves and Robert took amazing care of us. From the sampling of the salsas to the fun conversation and amazing service. We started off with the seafood nachos so that filled us up where I couldn't order the halibut or tuna for my main course, which I'll have to come back and do next time. We ended up sharing the chicken fajitas and had a doggie bag the rest of it. Left room for flan and the crazy deep fried ice cream. Wow! Who came up with that? Tastes like churros and McDonald's Apple Pie crumbs or something, and Carmel sauce drizzled on top. Amazing. The deco is warm and colorful. Love the causal, laid back feel. And for Christmas, the decorations were tastefully done to blend with the interior theme. Just a cool, hip, casual place. Looking forward to coming back soon and putting that tuna or halibut in my stomach!! Miguel, Robert and the others. Thank you for making our night a special one to remember!

The only time we could get a reservation for S. of Nicks 2 doors South was 8PM. Not wanting to wait that long we stopped here for happy hour to have a couple of margaritas and sample the happy hour food menu. We cancelled the reservation. We were not disappointed as we sat at the bar and ate and drank while people watching through the window to PCH. The seafood nachos were made with fresh lobster and shrimp, worth the happy hour price. Definitely a place to visit again when back in town.

When this place first opened about a year ago in the former Tommy Bahamas spot, I thought it was a brave and curious move for the owners, given that Laguna Beach has more than its share of Mexican restaurants, including the popular and venerable Carmelita's and South of Nick's. I found out recently during my first visit that it's run by the same folks that own Skyloft upstairs and Mozambique a bit further south. I was always impressed with the spot's design/décor. Like Tommy Bahamas before it, Bodega was a combination restaurant, cantina, and boutique. Lately, they've added an ice cream and street taco counter. The menu was always quite large. I was particularly intrigued by their happy hour menu, which had some good deals, so that is what I tried this first time. On weekends, the place always looks busy. I came on a weekday (although happy hour is offered every day), so the place was quiet. Service was attentive and friendly, a shout out to Stephanee. All of the happy hour plates are $10, as are the house margaritas. Beer, wine and small plates like chips and salsas are less. Several of the plates are more than $20 on the regular menu, although surely the portions are larger. I tried the strawberry margarita, halibut ceviche, seafood nachos, and taco duo (fried mahi mahi and blackened shrimp). Portions were generous (I had leftovers) and everything was quite tasty. Their ice cream counter looked good and had good value too; I'll try that next time, as well as their weekend brunch. A worth competitor to Carmelita's and South of Nick's.

This was my second time there! It is a very trendy and cute place and has its own little shop inside. So after you eat you can go and visit the shop which has cute stuff. The decoration inside the restaurant is very colorful and pretty. As for the food, everyone in our party of seven gave this place a 4 stars including myself. The food presentation is very good as well and the service was good too.

Modern, fresh Mexican food in the best way is served here. Our server ably recommend based on our desire for good seafood: - Branzino Zarandeado absolutely stole the show. Great fish, cooked perfectly, and huge fresh flavors. Don't miss it. Remommended by the server and he was right. - Spicy tuna steak - also amazing, well cooked and flavorful. - Halibut ceviche - pretty good, my standards for ceviche are ridiculously high and this was solidly above average but not amazing. - Chips and salsa and guacamole were good, not standouts. - Environment was fun, vibrant, modern, and polished. Everything you want from a night out in Laguna Beach. Service was on point. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent vibe. Recommended highly.
